Badalucco è un tipico paese dell'entroterra ligure dedito alla coltivazione degli olivi e al turismo. L'abitato, fitto e compatto, è circondato da terrazzamenti coltivati ad ulivi e attraversato dalla strada statale 548 che dal mare raggiunge le comunità della valle costeggiando il torrente. La conformazione del paese è tale da rendere quasi impossibile la sosta all'interno del centro abitato e da determinare punti di particolare criticità tra la viabilità veicolare e le percorrenze pedonali specie in corrispondenza di alcune strettoie, pertanto il parcheggio in località Premartin assume un grande valore strategico. La sua posizione, all'ingresso del paese per chi proviene dal mare, consente a residenti e turisti di abbandonare l'auto e raggiungere, in pochi minuti e in tutta sicurezza, il centro storico percorrendo un antico sentiero tra terrazze olivate e vecchie case di pietra. Ed è in questa particolare morfologia del luogo che il progetto per il parcheggio in struttura, voluto per potenziare la capacità ricettiva dell'area di sosta già esistente, trova la propria fonte di ispirazione. Il nuovo volume è inserito alla base del pendio quale prosecuzione dei terrazzamenti soprastanti, con i quali si identifica per forma, proporzioni e materiali, ridimensionando al contempo il grande spiazzo dell'area di sosta all'aperto. Un parallelepipedo elementare pensato come aggregazione di due elementi distinti, ognuno dei quali identificato dall'utilizzo di un materiale, la pietra, a richiamare i terrazzamenti, e il legno, che sotto forma di successione di listelli verticali scandisce il lungo prospetto frontale garantendo una adeguata ventilazione antincendio. I due elementi slittano orizzontalmente tra loro generando, mediante un solo gesto, percorsi e funzioni e svincolando la rigidità di una sagoma di per sé monolitica pur senza comprometterne l'essenzialità della forma in armonia con il paesaggio circostante.
Badalucco is a typical village in the Ligurian hinterland devoted to the olive tree cultivation and interested in the tourist development. The built-up area is dense and surrounded by terraces planted with olive trees. The village is crossed by the state road that climbs up the valley, following the river. The conformation of the village makes impossible to park within the inhabited center and determines points of particular criticality between vehicular traffic and pedestrian paths especially at certain stretches. Therefore the Premartin parking area has great strategic value. Its position, at the entrance to the village for those coming from the sea, allows residents and visitors to leave the car and reach the historic center, fast and safely, along an ancient path between old stone houses and terraces planted with olive trees. This particular morphology of the site is the source of inspiration for the design of the new car park building projected to enhance the receptive capacity of the existing parking area. The new volume is placed at the base of the slope as a continuation of the above terraces reflecting their shape, proportions and materials, and at the same time it reduces the large area of the outdoor parking area. It is an elementary parallelepiped conceived as an aggregation of two distinct elements, each of which is identified by the use of a material. The stone recalls the terraces, while the succession of vertical wooden slats marks the long front elevation ensuring an adequate fire ventilation. The two elements slide horizontally one on the other, generating, in a single gesture, paths and functions, and releasing the stiffness of a monolithic silhouette without compromising the essence of the form in harmony with the surrounding landscape.
